In game store now available... Name change, Makeover kit, Storage Pane
I'm pretty sure that with the new update, we now have the ability to purchase the following:
Makeover Pack - $9.99
This service lets you customize your character's appearance (hair style, hair color, face, skin color and body style). Item includes 5 makeover credits you can use on one character or across multiple characters on the same account.
Extreme Makeover - $9.99
This service allows you to change the gender and appearance (hair style, hair color, face, skin color and body style) of a single character.
Character Name Change = $14.99
This service allows you the change the name of a single character.

Jesus I was actually considering getting a name change and a gender swap on my warrior but HELL no, not for 25USD = 32ish CAD.
Anet, terrible update. Features that *should* be free or atleast reasonably priced :/

Biggest LOL is that gender change costs 5x more $$$ than all the other changes. Thechnically there's probably no difference in their cost to perform such an operation, but they're charning much more for this 'luxury'.
This kind of pricing makes sense if it's all about ingame money and rewards - better rewads for more ingame currency - but they're applying it to real $$$ sales aswell. Exactly what happens to the extra storage - just as the bigger equipment packs cost far more ZOINS, the xunlai panes cost far more than other ways of obtaining storage (char slots, whole accounts). It's sick.

My thoughts on this is that Anet was banking on the vocal minority saying they'd pay such and such for all this garbage, but they'll soon realize that the vast majority of players will balk at the sticker shock of all this crap. That or they'll take the huge instant cash influx from those spoiled kids whose parents shovel cash onto to keep them off their backs, pay for the work they did, then make a change to less money or ability to use in-game gold.
Either way, I really don't think they took into account the fact that the people posting on Guru are the very very very vocal VAST MINORITY of GW players. the truly dedicated. Banking your financial plan on the percentage of Guru members, many of which don't even play any more, who say they'll pay for these changes is a poor strategy.
This update didn't add any real new content. The Menagerie. That's it. Some coins, pretty much just a new bloated method of obtaining existing super-common items. New storage that you are FORCED to use this bloated grind-based system to obtain. Sure, once you have it on a character, it's there....but by my calculations it'll take all 10 of my characters doing every single mission and bounty in Hard Mode(not gonna happen) 5 days to obtain ONE pack. This is grind.

In this topic we see people crying that they don't get features for free. Both things are totally expected: 1. crying 2. micro transactions on game without monthly fee. Company is out there to make money, which will allow the devs to continue updating the product. Quit crying and grow a pair.

Micro transactions that need the appropriate micro PRICE, which this is not.

$1 for complete transformation options would have been reasonable.
10 plat in game (as a money sink) would have been a great option.
As you said, I'm not buying it... I really don't even play GW anymore.

Haven't posted in a while, but I can't help but find it funny remembering people saying they'd pay $20-$30 for any one of these if they'd just make them available; and now that they're actually here.....

Luckily I never said that I'd pay. Now I might have said a dollar was reasonable just now, but I'm still not going to pay real money especially in a depression to make a character look better.
This game really needed a money sink and anet blew the perfect opportunity to fix the ingame economy.

I'm sure this games 'original' business model was something along the lines of "expansions" would support game development and server costs. There's (big-number) Korean rpg/mmo's out there with no cost for the actual game and carppy micro-transactions for anything cool. But this is actually worse than that particular model. You could argue that Anets business model is evolving, I would say it's devolving.

- Not buying gives the information to company that price is too high. Perhaps they lower it later, but at least for now they want to get impulse spenders to fork over their cash. I don't play GW anymore either. Finished the campaigns on nearly every profession, players PvP of all sorts, have seen all these events already. The update is decent for those who still play and the menagerie is surprisingly well-planned, but I doubt getting 500 or 1500 gold for running same missions over will sway players into doing them once the novelty wears off.

This. I'd pay anywhere in the 10k-20k range for it. But looking at the prices there, in real money? No.
